Instructions
Making the Squares
To create the squares for the blanket:
- Make a slip knot and chain 21.
- Row 1: Starting in the 4th chain from the hook, dc in each chain across (19 dc). Turn your work.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each dc across. Turn your work.
- Repeat Row 2 until you have a square measuring approximately 8 inches by 8 inches (about 12 rows total).
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew the squares together.
- Make a total of 16 squares: 8 in brown and 8 in white.
Joining the Squares
Once all your squares are complete, you can join them:
- Arrange your squares into a 4x4 grid, alternating colors.
- Using the long tail from the first square, whip stitch the squares together. Align the edges, insert the needle into both squares, and pull through, repeating along each seam until all squares are joined.
- Repeat for all squares until the entire blanket is assembled.
Finishing
To finish the blanket:
- Once your squares are joined, you may choose to add a border if desired. To do this, attach yarn in a corner with a slip stitch.
- Chain 1, then sc evenly around the entire blanket. In the corners, make 3 sc to keep the edges smooth.
- When you reach the starting point, sl st to join and fasten off. Weave in any remaining yarn ends using a tapestry needle.
