Crochet Charming Textured Flower Brooch Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Medium weight cotton yarn in two colors (A - main color, B - contrasting color)
• 4.0 mm (G) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Button for center embellishment (optional)
• Pin back or safety pin for attaching

Abbreviations:

• ch - chain
• sc - single crochet
• dc - double crochet
• sl st - slip stitch
• st - stitch
• tr - treble crochet

Instructions:

Flower Petals (Make 5):

1. With yarn A, ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first dc), make 11 dc into the ring. Join with a sl st to the top of the first dc. (12 dc total)
3. Round 2: Ch 1, in the same st, make 1 sc, 2 hdc, 1 dc. In the next st, make 1 dc, 2 hdc, 1 sc. Repeat around total of 5 petals. (Finish with sl st in beginning sc)
4. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pull through the last stitch and tighten to secure.

Center (Make 1):

1. With yarn B, ch 3, join with a sl st to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 1, make 6 sc in the ring. Join with a sl st.
3. Round 2: Ch 1, make 2 sc in each st around. Join with a sl st. (12 sc total)
4. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly:

1. Layer the petals in a circular fashion.
2. Sew the center piece onto the petals securely.
3. If using a button, sew it to the center of the flower.
4. Attach the pin back or safety pin to the back of the flower for wearing.

Optional: For a two-tone effect, try working the petals with yarn A and B alternately!
