Crochet Elegant Chevron Striped Baby Blanket Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in three colors: green, beige, and cream
- Crochet hook size H/8 (5 mm)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Finished Size:
Approximately 32 inches wide by 36 inches long.
Gauge:
14 dc and 8 rows = 4 inches.
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- dc - double crochet
- st - stitch
- sc - single crochet
- tog - together
Instructions:
Chevron Pattern:
- Note: Each row in the chevron pattern is a repeat of 14 stitches plus 3 for the base chain.
- Using cream yarn, ch 155.
- Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from hook, [dc in next 5 ch, dc3tog over next 3 ch, dc in next 5 ch, 3 dc in next ch] across, ending with dc2tog in last 2 ch. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, [dc in next 5 dc, dc3tog over next 3 sts, dc in next 5 dc, 3 dc in next st] across, ending with 2 dc in last st. Turn.
- Repeat Row 2, switching colors every 2 rows, following the sequence: green, beige, cream. Carry the yarn along the side as you work.
- Continue until the blanket measures approximately 36 inches long, ending with a cream row. Fasten off.
Border:
- Using cream yarn, join yarn at any corner with a slip stitch.
- Round 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around the entire blanket, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc.
- Change to green yarn.
- Round 2: Ch 1, sc around, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc.
- Change to beige yarn and repeat Round 2.
- Change to cream yarn for the final round, and repeat Round 2. Fasten off.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends using the tapestry needle. Block lightly if desired.
