Ethereal Dreamy Gradient Shawl

Materials:

  • Yarn: 3 skeins of lightweight gradient yarn (suggested weight: DK or light worsted)
  • Crochet Hook: 5mm (H-8)
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge:

18 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches with the chosen stitch pattern.

Finished Size:

Approximately 65 inches wide and 30 inches long after blocking.

Stitches Used:

  • Chain (ch)
  • Double Crochet (dc)
  • Slip Stitch (sl st)
  • Shell Stitch (5 dc in one stitch)

Pattern Instructions:

1. Foundation Chain: Ch 215.
2. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook (this counts as your first dc + 1 ch), *skip 2 ch, shell stitch in next ch (5 dc), skip 2 ch, dc in next ch; repeat from * across. Turn.
3. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in the next dc, *shell stitch in the next shell (5 dc), skip 2 dc, dc in the next dc; repeat from * across, ending with dc in the top of the turning chain. Turn.
4. Row 3: Ch 3, dc in the next dc, *shell stitch in the next shell, skip 2 dc, dc in the next dc; repeat from * across. Change color here to the next gradient section.
5. Row 4: Repeat Row 2 with the new color. 
6. Continue: Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until the shawl reaches your desired length or you have used up all your yarn.
7. Finishing: Last row should be a Row 2 repeat. Fasten off and weave in ends.
8. Blocking: Gently wash your shawl and pin it to shape, allowing it to dry flat to enhance the texture.

Notes:

This shawl is customizable with any gradient yarn, and you can adjust the size by increasing or decreasing the foundation chain by multiples of 6. Have fun choosing colors that reflect your style!
