Knit Baby Booties Pattern

Materials:

• DK weight yarn in two colors: Pink and Blue.
• Set of 4mm (US 6) knitting needles.
• Darning needle for sewing up and weaving in ends.
• Scissors.

Gauge:

22 stitches and 28 rows = 10 cm (4 inches) in stockinette stitch.

Abbreviations:

• CO - Cast On
• k - Knit
• p - Purl
• k2tog - Knit two stitches together
• p2tog - Purl two stitches together
• st(s) - Stitch(es)
• RS - Right Side
• WS - Wrong Side

Instructions:

Bootie Sole:

1. CO 28 sts using the white yarn.
2. Row 1 (RS): Knit.
3. Row 2 (WS): Purl.
4. Repeat these rows for 12 rows, alternating knit and purl rows, ending with a purl row.

Body of Bootie:

1. Switch to pink yarn.
2. Row 1 (RS): Knit.
3. Row 2 (WS): Purl.
4. Continue in stockinette stitch for 18 rows.

Toe Shaping:

1. Row 1: K10, k2tog, k4, k2tog, k10. (26 sts)
2. Row 2 and all even rows: Purl.
3. Row 3: K9, k2tog, k4, k2tog, k9. (24 sts)
4. Continue decreasing every RS row until you have 16 sts.

Cuff:

1. Change to pink yarn.
2. Knit in garter stitch (knit every row) for 12 rows.
3. Bind off loosely.

Finishing:

1. Use the darning needle to sew up the back seam of the bootie.
2. Weave in all loose ends neatly.
3. Make a twisted or crocheted cord in the matching color of approximately 50 cm (20 inches), thread through the eyelets.

Repeat instructions for the second bootie.
