Crochet Classic Scalloped Christmas Tree Skirt Free Pattern

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in cream
• Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle
• 3 wooden buttons (1 inch in diameter)

Abbreviations:

• ch: chain
• sl st: slip stitch
• sc: single crochet
• dc: double crochet
• inc: increase (2 dc in the same stitch)

Instructions:

Center Opening:

1. Make a magic ring, ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), work 11 dc into ring, join with sl st to top of ch-3. (12 dc)
2. Ch 3, dc in the same st, 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st. (24 dc)

Tree Skirt Body:

3. Ch 3, *dc in next st, inc in next st*, repeat from * to * around, join with sl st. (36 dc)
4. Ch 3, *dc in next 2 sts, inc in next st*, repeat from * to * around, join with sl st. (48 dc)
5. Continue in this pattern, increasing the number of dc between increases by 1 each round, until the skirt reaches your desired diameter.
6. For the final round, work a sc in each st around, join with sl st.

Scalloped Edge:

7. Ch 1, *skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st, skip 1 st, sc in next st*, repeat from * to * around, join with sl st. Fasten off.

Finishing:

8. Attach buttons evenly along one edge of the slit and use gaps between stitches as buttonholes on the opposite edge.
9. Weave in all ends with tapestry needle.
