Crochet Delicate Butterfly Tassel Bookmark Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Crochet thread in purple, pink, and magenta
• Crochet hook size 2.75mm (C)
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Abbreviations:

• ch: chain
• sc: single crochet
• dc: double crochet
• sl st: slip stitch
• st: stitch

Instructions:

Butterfly Wings:

Upper Wings (make 2):

1. With purple thread, ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.
2. Row 1: Ch 2 (counts as dc), 11 dc into ring, join with sl st to top of ch 2. (12 dc)
3. Row 2: Ch 3, (dc, ch 1, dc) in each st around, join with sl st.
4. Fasten off.

Lower Wings (make 2):

1. With pink thread, ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.
2. Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc into ring, join with sl st to top of ch 3. (12 dc)
3. Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st. (24 dc)
4. Fasten off.

Butterfly Body:

1. With magenta thread, make a slip knot and ch 6.
2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. (5 sc)
3. Fasten off and sew to wings, centering body between the upper and lower wings.

Antennae:

1. With magenta thread, ch 10.
2. Fasten off, attach to the top of the body, and knot each end.

Bookmark Tail:

1. With pink thread, ch 80 (or desired length).
2. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Tassel:

1. Wrap purple thread around a 4-inch piece of cardboard 15 times. Cut one end.
2. Use the long tail from the bookmark to wrap and tie the strands at the top, forming the tassel.
3. Attach tassel to the bottom of the chain tail.

Trim tassel to even lengths. Weave in any remaining ends and trim excess.
