Pattern Notes

This shawl is worked in a series of rows, starting wide and gradually decreasing to form lovely petal shapes towards the edges.

Pattern Instructions

  1. Chain 180 for foundation chain.
  2. Row 1: Double crochet in the 4th chain from the hook, then dc across to end. Turn.
  3. Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as first dc), *skip 2 stitches, shell in next stitch; repeat from * to end, ending with a dc in the last stitch. Turn.
  4. Row 3: Chain 3, (1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc) in the first shell, *petal cluster in the next shell; repeat from * to end, finish with a dc in the last stitch. Turn.
  5. Rows 4-10: Repeat Rows 2-3. Work until the shawl measures approximately 12” from foundation chain.
  6. Row 11: Continue with a decrease pattern, skipping the last shell of each repeat while maintaining petal clusters. Turn.
  7. Repeat the last row until desired depth is reached, approximately 6” deep.
  8. Finish with a scalloped edge by working 1 shell in each of the last stitches along the edge.
  9. Weave in any loose ends and block to shape.

Final Touches

Once blocked, this shawl will bloom beautifully, showcasing its intricate lace design. Perfect for layering or as a stand-alone accessory!
