Instructions

Base of Bag

  1. Foundation Chain: Start with a slip knot, then CH 36.
  2. Row 1: SC in second CH from hook and in each CH across. (35 SC total)
  3. Row 2: CH 1, turn. SC in each ST across. (35 SC total)
  4. Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures approximately 10 inches from the foundation chain.

Body of Bag

  1. Next Row: CH 1, turn. Begin the sides by working in the round. SC around the edges, making 1 SC in each row end along the sides and 2 SC in each corner.
  2. Continue: Work in rounds until the bag measures 12 inches from the base or desired height.

Handle

  1. Creating the Handle: When the body of the bag reaches the desired height, CH 10, skip the next 10 ST, and SC in the following ST.
  2. Repeat: Create another handle on the opposite side, matching the first handle.

Fringe

  1. Preparing Fringe: Cut 20 pieces of yarn, each 12 inches long.
  2. Attach Fringe: Fold each piece in half and use a SL ST to attach it to the bottom edge of the bag around the perimeter, spacing evenly.
  3. Finish off: Trim fringe ends to your desired length.

Final Touches

  1. Weaving in Ends: Use a tapestry needle to weave in all loose ends securely.
  2. Blocked (Optional): Lightly steam block the bag to shape it nicely.
