Knitting Elegant Lacy Crescent Shawl Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Yarn: Fingering weight yarn in a soft gradient, approximately 800 yards.
• Needles: US size 6 (4 mm) circular needles, 32 inches long.
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge:

20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Stitches Used:

• K - Knit
• P - Purl
• YO - Yarn Over
• k2tog - Knit two together
• SSK - Slip, slip, knit

Instructions:

Crescent Body:

1. Cast on 3 stitches.
2. Row 1: K1, YO, place marker, K1, YO, K1. (5 stitches)
3. Row 2: K all stitches.
4. Row 3: K1, YO, knit to marker, slip marker, knit to last stitch, YO, K1.
5. Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until you have 225 stitches.

Lace Edging:

Switch to lace pattern:

1. Row 1 (RS): K2, *YO, k2tog; repeat from * to end of row, K2.
2. Row 2 and all WS Rows: P all stitches.
3. Row 3: K2, *K2tog, YO; repeat from * to end of row, K2.
4. Repeat Rows 1-4 of lace pattern until lace section measures approximately 10 inches, ending on a WS row.

Finishing:

1. Bind off loosely in pattern.
2. Weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
3. Block the shawl to open up the lace pattern.
