Knitting Elegant Lacy Crescent Shawl Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Yarn: Fingering weight yarn in a soft gradient, approximately 800 yards.
- Needles: US size 6 (4 mm) circular needles, 32 inches long.
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge:
20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Stitches Used:
- K - Knit
- P - Purl
- YO - Yarn Over
- k2tog - Knit two together
- SSK - Slip, slip, knit
Instructions:
Crescent Body:
- Cast on 3 stitches.
- Row 1: K1, YO, place marker, K1, YO, K1. (5 stitches)
- Row 2: K all stitches.
- Row 3: K1, YO, knit to marker, slip marker, knit to last stitch, YO, K1.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until you have 225 stitches.
Lace Edging:
Switch to lace pattern:
- Row 1 (RS): K2, *YO, k2tog; repeat from * to end of row, K2.
- Row 2 and all WS Rows: P all stitches.
- Row 3: K2, *K2tog, YO; repeat from * to end of row, K2.
- Repeat Rows 1-4 of lace pattern until lace section measures approximately 10 inches, ending on a WS row.
Finishing:
- Bind off loosely in pattern.
- Weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
- Block the shawl to open up the lace pattern.
