Textured Orange Blanket

This lovely blanket is perfect for keeping warm or adding a cheerful touch to your home decor. Made with super soft yarn in a rich orange hue, it features a textured stitch pattern that is both visually appealing and comfortable. Follow these detailed instructions to create your own!

Materials

  • Bulky weight yarn (approx. 900 yards in orange)
  • Size US 11 (8mm) knitting needles
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Measuring tape

Gauge

14 stitches and 16 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch (after blocking).

Abbreviations

  • CO - Cast On
  • k - Knit
  • p - Purl
  • st(s) - Stitch(es)
  • rep - Repeat
  • BO - Bind Off

Instructions

1. Cast On

CO 80 stitches. This will give you a width of approximately 40 inches, but you can adjust the number of stitches based on your desired width.

2. Setup Row

Row 1: k1, *p1, k1; repeat from * to end of row.

3. Main Pattern

Rows 2-5: Repeat Row 1 for four more rows. This establishes the texture.

Row 6: k2, *p2, k2; repeat from * to end of row.

Rows 7-10: Repeat Row 6 for four more rows.

Continue alternating these two patterns (Row 1 and Row 6) until the piece measures approximately 60 inches long, or until desired length is reached.

4. Bind Off

Once the desired length is reached, bind off all stitches loosely. This will help the edge to remain stretchy.

5. Finishing

Use a tapestry needle to weave in all loose ends securely. If desired, block the blanket to help even out the stitches and enhance the texture.

Care Instructions

Hand wash in cold water, lay flat to dry, or follow the yarn’s care instructions for machine washing.

Enjoy your warm and cozy blanket!
