Chunky Braided Rug Pattern

Materials

  • Chunky jute yarn or any thick, natural fiber suitable for a rug (approx. 500g for a small rug)
  • Crochet hook size P (15.0 mm)
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge

Exact gauge is not critical for this project. Aim for consistent stitch size.

Abbreviations

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • sl st: slip stitch

Instructions

  1. Foundation Row: Ch 12 (or your desired width for the rug).
This will determine the width of the rug. You can adjust by adding or subtracting chains.
  2. Row 1: Sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn.
  3. Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across. Turn.
  4. Repeat Row 2 until the rug measures your desired length.
  5. Final Row: Once your rug reaches its desired size, sl st in each sc across the last row to finish.
  6. Finish off and weave in any loose ends using a tapestry needle.

Finishing

Block the rug gently by wetting and reshaping it to fix any curling edges. Let it dry completely flat.

Your cozy, chunky braided rug is ready to add a warm touch to any room!
