Crocheted Teddy Bear and Heart Set Pattern

Materials:

• Yarn in soft grey, light blue, and black
• Crochet hook size G/4.0 mm
• Polyester fiberfill stuffing
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Gauge:

Gauge is not critical for this project. Ensure your stitches are tight enough to keep the stuffing inside.

Abbreviations:

• ch: chain
• sc: single crochet
• inc: increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
• dec: decrease (single crochet two stitches together)
• st(s): stitch(es)
• sl st: slip stitch

Instructions:

Bear Body:

1. Start with grey yarn. Make a magic ring.
2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
3. Rnd 2: inc in each st around. (12 sts)
4. Rnd 3: [sc, inc] around. (18 sts)
5. Rnd 4: [2 sc, inc] around. (24 sts)
6. Rnd 5-12: sc in each st around. (24 sts)
7. Rnd 13: [2 sc, dec] around. (18 sts)
8. Stuff the body firmly with fiberfill.
9. Rnd 14: [sc, dec] around. (12 sts)
10. Rnd 15: dec around. (6 sts)
11. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew.

Bear Head:

1. Using grey yarn, repeat Rnds 1-4 of body instructions. (24 sts)
2. Rnd 5-10: sc in each st around. (24 sts)
3. Rnd 11: [2 sc, dec] around. (18 sts)
4. Stuff the head firmly.
5. Rnd 12: [sc, dec] around. (12 sts)
6. Rnd 13: dec around. (6 sts)
7. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Bear Ears (Make 2):

1. Using grey yarn, magic ring.
2. Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
3. Rnd 2: [sc, inc] around. (9 sts)
4. Rnd 3: sc in each st around. (9 sts)
5. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Attach ears to head.

Heart:

1. Using light blue yarn, ch 2.
2. Row 1: 2 sc in first ch. Turn. (2 sts)
3. Row 2: ch 1, inc in each st. Turn. (4 sts)
4. Row 3: ch 1, [inc, sc] twice. Turn. (6 sts)
5. Row 4: ch 1, [inc, sc, inc] twice. Turn. (10 sts)
6. Fold the piece in half and join with a sl st; fasten off and weave in ends.
7. Join yarn to the other beginning ch, repeat the above steps for the other side of the heart.
8. Continue in rounds around the heart shape base.
9. Stuff heart lightly and sew opening shut.

Assembly:

1. Sew the head to the body using the long tail.
2. Attach the arms and legs by sewing them securely to the sides of the body.
3. Embroider eyes and nose with black yarn.
4. Sew the heart to the bear’s hands or leave it separate.
