Crochet Elegant Textured Macrame-Inspired Tapestry Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in earth tones (3-4 colors)
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Wooden dowel or branch for hanging
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Measuring tape
Yarn Information: Make sure to use yarn that has good drape for a beautiful tapestry effect.
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Slip stitch (sl st)
- Single crochet (sc)
- Double crochet (dc)
- Shell stitch:
- 5 dc in one stitch
Gauge:
4 inches = 12 rows of double crochet
Finished Size:
Approx. 18 inches wide by 30 inches long.
Pattern Notes:
- This pattern is worked in rows, starting from the top down.
- You can customize the length and width by adjusting your chain foundation and adding more rows as needed.
Instructions:
- Foundation: Chain 50.
- Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. (49 sc)
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next sc, *ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next sc; repeat from * across, end with dc in last sc. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first dc, *5 dc in the ch-1 space, sc in the next dc; repeat from * across, ending with a sc in the top of the turning ch. Turn.
- Row 4: Ch 3, dc in each sc across. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2-4 until tapestry reaches desired length, approximately 30 inches long.
- Fringe: Cut yarn into 12-inch lengths. Fold each length in half and attach to the bottom edge of the tapestry using a lark's head knot.
- Finishing: Weave in all ends and hang your finished tapestry from the wooden dowel or branch.
