Enchanted Textured Cauldron with Glowing Stars
Materials:
- Red Heart Super Saver yarn or similar (1 skein each in Black and Glow-in-the-Dark Yellow)
- Size H/8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Polyfill or felt for padding (optional)
- Yarn needle
Gauge: Not critical, but aim for a tight stitch to maintain form.
Finished Size: Approximately 7 inches in height and 6 inches in width.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
- rnd = round
- RS = right side
- WS = wrong side
Instructions:
Base:
- With Black yarn, ch 4 and join to form a ring.
- Rnd 1: Work 8 sc in ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc.
- Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around (16 sc). Join.
- Rnd 3: Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; repeat from * around (24 sc). Join.
- Continue increasing as necessary until you reach 36 sc in the last round for a wider base.
Sides:
- Rnds 1-5: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join (36 sc).
- Rnds 6-10: Change to Glow-in-the-Dark Yellow yarn. Repeat sc in each st for 5 rounds.
- Rnd 11: For texture, *dc in next st, sc in next st; repeat from * around.
- Rnds 12-15: With Black yarn, sc in each st around. Join.
Lid:
- With Black yarn, ch 4 and join to form a ring.
- Work similarly to the base, increasing until you reach a diameter similar to the top of the cauldron.
- For the last round, alternate *dc, sc* for added texture.
Finishing:
- Attach the lid to the cauldron using sl st.
- Add star motifs around the body and on the lid if desired, using Glow-in-the-Dark yarn.
- Weave in all ends and stuff lightly if desired.
Optional: Add a battery-operated tea light inside for a glowing effect! Perfect for trick-or-treaters or as a unique centerpiece.
