Materials
- Yarn: DK weight in two colors
- Needles: US size 6 (4mm) knitting needles
- Buttons: 2 wooden, 1" diameter
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
Abbreviations
- CO: Cast on
- BO: Bind off
- k: knit
- p: purl

Instructions
Ribbing (Bottom Hem)
- CO 100 sts using color A.
- Work in 1x1 ribbing (k1, p1) for 5 rows.
Body
- Switch to stockinette stitch. Begin striping pattern: Color B for 6 rows, Color A for 6 rows. Repeat until the piece measures 8 inches from the CO edge.
Shaping the Armholes
- Bind off 5 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows (90 sts remaining).
- Decrease 1 st at each edge every other row 5 times (80 sts remaining).
Top Section
- Continue even in pattern until the piece reaches 12 inches from the CO edge.
- Divide for straps: Work 20 sts, place the next 40 sts on a holder, work remaining 20 sts.
Straps
- Work each set of 20 sts separately in ribbing (k1, p1) for 4 inches.
- BO and secure.
Finishing
- Attach buttons on the main body base where the straps end.
- Weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
