Crochet Radiant Sunset Triangle Shawl Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Bulky weight self-striping yarn in sunset shades
  • Crochet hook size I/9 (5.5 mm)
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Gauge:

10 stitches x 10 rows = 4 inches in lace pattern

Abbreviations:

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • sc – single crochet
  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • sk – skip
  • sp – space

Pattern Instructions:

Foundation Row: ch 5, join with a slip stitch to form a ring.

Row 1: ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc in ring, ch 1, 3 dc in ring. Turn.

Row 2: ch 3, 2 dc in first dc, dc in each dc to ch 1 sp, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch 1 sp, dc in each dc to end, 3 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.

Row 3 (Lace Row): ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), sk first dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, *sk next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1; repeat from * to ch 1 sp, (dc, ch 1, dc) in ch 1 sp, ch 1, **sk next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1; repeat from ** to last dc, dc in top of turning ch. Turn.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the shawl measures approximately 60 inches across the top edge or desired size. Ensure to end with a Row 3.

Edging: Work a final repeat of Row 2.

Border: With right side facing, join yarn in top corner and sc evenly around the entire shawl, working 3 sc in each corner ch-2 sp. Join with slip stitch to first sc. Fasten off.

Finishing: Weave in all ends. Block the shawl to open up the lace pattern and shape.
