Crochet Textured Braided Pot Holder Free Pattern

This cozy and functional pot holder is perfect for any kitchen! The textured braided look is achieved using a series of simple stitches that create a beautiful pattern while ensuring durability.

Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight cotton yarn (approx. 150 yards)
  • 5.0 mm (H) crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Gauge:

16 stitches and 12 rows = 4 inches in double crochet stitch.

Abbreviations:

  • ch = chain
  • dc = double crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st = stitch

Instructions:

Foundation Row:

Ch 30.

Row 1:

Dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in each ch across. (28 dc)

Row 2:

Ch 2 (counts as dc), turn. Dc in each st across. (28 dc)

Row 3:

Ch 1, turn. Starting with the second st, hdc in the first st, *fpdc in the next st, hdc in the next st; repeat from * across. (28 sts)

Row 4:

Ch 2, turn. Dc in each st across. (28 dc)

Row 5:

Ch 1, turn. Starting with the second st, *hdc in the next st, fpdc in the next st; repeat from * across, ending with hdc in the last st.

Repeat Rows 2-5:

Until the piece measures approximately 10 inches tall.

Finishing:

Ch 1, sc around the entire edge of the pot holder for a clean finish. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
