Crochet Textured Comfy Slouch Socks Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn (approximately 200 yards)
- 5 mm (H-8) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Measuring tape
- Stitch markers (optional)
Size: Fits adult sizes, adjustable for smaller or larger sizes.
Gauge: 14 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.
Instructions:
Note: This pattern is worked in rounds, and you will need to make two socks.
1. Create the Cuff
- Chain 10.
- Row 1: In the second chain from the hook, make 1 single crochet (sc) and sc in each chain across. (9 sc)
- Rows 2-10: Chain 1, turn. Sc in each stitch across. Repeat this for a total of 10 rows.
- Join the ends of the cuff with slip stitch to form a circle.
2. Body of the Sock
- Round 1: Chain 1, work 1 sc in each sc around the cuff. Join with a slip stitch (sl st) into the first sc.
- Round 2: Chain 2 (counts as first double crochet), work 1 double crochet (dc) in each stitch around. Join with sl st to the top of the chain-2.
- Rounds 3-15: Repeat Round 2.
3. Heel Shaping
- Round 16: Chain 1, sc in the first 20 stitches, skip the next 20 stitches, sc in the remaining 20 stitches. Join with sl st.
- Round 17: Chain 1, sc in the first 20 stitches, sc in the first skipped stitches (20 sc). Join with sl st.
- Repeat Round 17 until desired heel height is reached (about 5-7 rounds).
4. Toe Shaping
- Round 1: Switch to half double crochet (hdc). Chain 2, hdc in the first 15 stitches, skip the next 10 stitches while working hdc in the remaining 15 stitches. Join with sl st.
- Round 2: Chain 2, hdc in the first 15 stitches, hdc in the first skipped stitches. Join with sl st.
- Continue these rounds until the toe is closed (around 3-4 rounds).
Finishing
- Fasten off and weave in all loose ends using a tapestry needle.
- Repeat all steps for the second sock.
