Crochet Textured Cozy Bobble Cardigan Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in cream or desired color
- Crochet hook size H/5mm
- 5 wooden buttons (1 inch each)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Stitches Used:
- Ch - Chain
- Sc - Single Crochet
- Dc - Double Crochet
- Bobble Stitch - (Yo, insert hook into stitch, yo, pull up a loop) 4 times in same st, yo, pull through all 9 loops on hook
- FPDC - Front Post Double Crochet
- BPDC - Back Post Double Crochet
Gauge: 10 cm x 10 cm = 14 stitches x 17 rows in bobble stitch
Body:
Note: The cardigan is worked in 5 pieces: the back, two front panels, and two sleeves.
Back Panel
- Ch 62 (or adjust according to size needed).
- Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), bobble stitch in next st, *(dc in next st, bobble stitch in next st); repeat from * across, end with dc in last st, turn.
- Repeat Row 2 for pattern until panel measures 18 inches or desired length.
Front Panels (Make 2)
- Ch 32.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2 as for back panel until front panel reaches matching back panel length. Decrease as needed for neckline shaping.
Sleeves (Make 2)
- Ch 36.
- Work bobble stitch pattern as in back panel, increasing every 4th row until sleeve measures 18 inches.
- Add ribbed cuff by working *(FPDC, BPDC)* around for 6 rows.
Assembly:
- Sew shoulder seams.
- Attach sleeves to body.
- Sew side seams from sleeve cuff to bottom hem.
Ribbed Edging and Button Band:
- Attach yarn to bottom corner of front panel, ch 2.
- Work *(FPDC, BPDC)* around front edge and neckline, making buttonholes on one front panel by skipping 1 st and chaining 1 at equally spaced intervals, for 6 rows.
Finishing:
- Sew buttons onto opposite front panel to align with buttonholes.
- Weave in all ends securely.
