Instructions
Center Holly Motif
Using green thread:
- Ch 10, join with sl st to form a ring.
- Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 23 dc into ring, join with sl st to top of ch 3. (24 dc)
- Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 5, skip 1 st, sc in next st; repeat around, join with sl st to first sc. (12 ch-sp)
- Rnd 3: In each ch-5 sp, work (sc, ch 2, 5 dc, ch 2, sc); join with sl st to first sc. (12 clusters)
- Fasten off, weave in ends.
Using red thread for berries:
- Ch 2, work 6 sc in second ch from hook, join with sl st to first sc. Repeat to make three berries.
Main Doily
Using cream thread:
- Attach thread to any st of Rnd 3, ch 1, sc in same st, (ch 5, sc in next st) around, join with sl st to first sc.
- Repeat with increasing ch spaces for next 4 rounds, joining with sl st at the end of each round.
Using red thread:
- Attach thread, ch 3, dc in same st, ch 1, 2 dc in same st, sk 2 sts; repeat around, join with sl st. (24 shell clusters)
- Next Rnd: Ch 3, 2 dc in ch-1 sp of previous rnd, ch 1, 2 dc in same sp, continue around; join with sl st.
Using green thread:
- Attach thread, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp; repeat around, join with sl st.
Border
Using red and green thread alternately for each shell, repeat shell clusters around, ensuring even distribution.
Finishing
- Attach holly motif to center of doily using a tapestry needle and matching thread.
- Sew on red berries in a cluster at the center of the holly leaves.
- Weave in all ends and block if necessary to shape.
