Chunky Knit Blanket Pattern
Perfect for beginners, this chunky knit blanket is easy to make and super cozy. Using large needles and soft yarn, you'll have a stylish throw to keep you warm in no time!
Materials:
- Chunky yarn (weight 6): Approximately 6-8 skeins, depending on desired size
- US size 15 (10mm) circular knitting needles (32-inch length recommended)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge:
14 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in garter stitch. Gauge is not crucial for this project, but it affects the size.
Abbreviations:
- K = Knit
- P = Purl
- St(s) = Stitch(es)
- Rep = Repeat
Instructions:
- Cast On: Cast on 40 stitches (or any multiple of 2 for the desired width) using the long-tail cast-on method.
- Row 1: Knit all stitches (this forms the garter stitch pattern).
- Row 2: Knit all stitches.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2: Continue knitting every row until the blanket measures approximately 50 inches (or desired length). You can make it longer if you want a bigger blanket.
- Bind Off: Once your blanket reaches the desired length, bind off all stitches in knit.
- Weave in Ends: Use the tapestry needle to weave in any loose ends from the yarn.
- Finishing: Optional - you can gently block your blanket to shape it and even out the stitches if desired.
Your cozy chunky knit blanket is now complete! It’s perfect for draping over a couch, taking to a picnic, or using as a stylish bed throw. Enjoy your new handmade treasure!
