Crochet Dog Plushie Pattern

Materials

Medium (worsted weight) yarn in grey (main color), dark blue (for flowers), light green (for accents), and white (for flowers)
4mm crochet hook
Polyfill stuffing
Black safety eyes (optional)
Yarn needle
Scissors

Gauge

Each hexagon should measure about 4 inches across when made with a 4mm hook and worsted weight yarn.

Abbreviations

ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
st = stitch
inc = increase (2 st in the same stitch)
dec = decrease (2 st together)

Pattern Instructions

Body & Head

1. Create 12 hexagons using the following pattern:

With grey yarn, make a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as dc), 1 dc in the ring, ch 1, *2 dc in the ring, ch 1* repeat from * to * 5 more times. Slip stitch to join (12 dc).

2. For the second round, join dark blue yarn:

Round 2: Ch 2, 1 dc in same stitch, *ch 1, 2 dc in next ch 1 space* repeat around. Slip stitch to join.

3. Continue working rounds, alternating colors and using green for the accent rounds where specified, until you have a total of 12 hexagons.

Assembling the Plushie

4. Sew the hexagons together in 2 rows of 6 hexagons each to form the body. 5. For the head, use 6 hexagons sewn together to shape the head, keeping in mind to leave space for the ears.

6. Attach safety eyes to the front hexagon for decoration and sew on small circles of white yarn for the white flower parts.

7. For the ears, make 2 additional small hexagons and attach them to the top of the head.

Legs and Tail

8. For each leg, create a small cylinder by working in the round: - Ch 4, join. - Round 1: 8 sc in ring. - Continue to work in rounds until each leg measures about 2 inches. 9. Sew the legs securely to the bottom of the body.

10. For the tail, create a chain of about 10 stitches, then sc back to give it some thickness, attach securely to the back of the body.

Finishing Touches

11. Stuff the dog plushie with polyfill to give it shape, ensuring the head, body, and legs are evenly filled.

12. Weave in all ends, ensuring they are secure and won’t come loose while playing. 13. Feel free to add additional decorations or even a collar using leftover yarn!
