Materials
- Worsted weight yarn, approximately 800-1000 yards
- Knitting needles size US 9 (5.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge
18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in lace pattern
Abbreviations
- k: knit
- p: purl
- yo: yarn over
- k2tog: knit two together
- ssk: slip, slip, knit
Pattern
Cast On
Cast on 120 stitches using a long-tail cast on.
Body
Row 1: (Right Side) *K2, yo, ssk, k to last 4 sts, k2tog, yo, k2* repeat across row.
Row 2: Purl across all stitches.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures 30 inches from the cast on edge or desired length.
Cowl Neck
Row 1: *Knit*
Row 2: *Purl*
Repeat these 2 rows for 5 inches to form the cowl neck.
Finishing
- Bind off loosely in pattern.
- Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
- Block the poncho to open up the lace pattern.
