Knitting Soft Textured Two-Tone Socks Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- DK weight yarn in three colors: sage green, mustard yellow, and cream.
- Size US 4 (3.5 mm) double-pointed knitting needles.
- Stitch markers.
- Tapestry needle.
- Scissors.
Abbreviations:
- CO - Cast On
- k - knit
- p - purl
- st(s) - stitch(es)
- rnd - round
Instructions:
Ribbed Cuff:
- CO 48 sts in sage green.
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist, and place a marker for the beginning of the round.
- K1, p1 ribbing for 12 rounds.
Leg:
- Switch to cream yarn.
- Work in seed stitch (alternate k1, p1 one row and p1, k1 next row) for 30 rounds.
Heel Flap:
- Switch to mustard yellow yarn.
- Work back and forth in seed stitch on half the stitches (24 sts) for 20 rows.
Turn Heel:
- Continue with mustard yellow.
- Row 1 (RS): k14, k2tog, k1, turn.
- Row 2 (WS): p5, p2tog, p1, turn.
- Row 3 (RS): k6, k2tog, k1, turn.
- Row 4 (WS): p7, p2tog, p1, turn.
- Continue in this pattern, adding one more stitch each side until all sts have been incorporated.
Foot:
- Pick up 12 sts along each side of the heel flap and resume knitting in the round.
- Knit seed stitch pattern with cream yarn for 40 rounds.
Toe:
- Switch to sage green yarn.
- Decrease every other round as follows: k5, k2tog, repeat to end of round.
- Continue decreasing in this pattern, reducing the number of knit stitches between decreases every decrease round until 12 sts remain.
- Graft toe stitches together using Kitchener stitch.
Finishing:
- Weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
- Block the socks to shape, and let dry.
