Colorful Chunky Knit Scarf Pattern
This chunky knit scarf is a wonderful project for beginners. Its vibrant colors and simple stitches make it a delightful accessory that you can complete quickly!
Materials
- Chunky yarn (approximately 120-150 yards each in orange, teal, purple)
- Size 11 (8 mm) knitting needles
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
Gauge
For this project, gauge is not crucial, but aim for approximately 10 stitches and 14 rows for a 4" x 4" square using size 11 needles.
Abbreviations
- k: knit
- p: purl
- CO: cast on
- BO: bind off
- st(s): stitch(es)
- RS: right side
- WS: wrong side
Instructions
- Cast On: Using the orange yarn, CO 20 stitches onto your size 11 needles using a long tail cast-on method.
- Row 1 (RS): *K2, P2; repeat from * to end of row.
- Row 2 (WS): *P2, K2; repeat from * to end of row.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the scarf measures approximately 60 inches in length (or your desired length). Switch to teal yarn when you reach about 20 inches, then repeat these two rows until you reach another 20 inches. Finally, switch to purple yarn and knit until the scarf measures a total of 60 inches.
- Bind Off: When you reach the desired length, BO all stitches loosely in pattern (K2, P2). This will help keep your edges from pulling in.
- Weave in Ends: Use your yarn needle to weave in any loose ends from the cast-on and bind-off edges.
Your colorful chunky knit scarf is now complete! You can wear it around your neck or gift it to a friend. Enjoy your cozy creation!
