Cozy Knit Throw Blanket

Materials

  • Yarn: Soft, bulky yarn in golden beige (approximately 600 yards)
  • Needles: Size 11 (8 mm) circular knitting needles, 32 inches long
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge

Approximately 10 stitches and 14 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

Abbreviations

  • CO: Cast On
  • K: Knit
  • P: Purl
  • St(s): Stitch(es)
  • BO: Bind Off

Instructions

Step 1: Begin by casting on 80 stitches (or any multiple of 10 for the width you desire) using the long tail cast-on method. This will create a nice, stretchy edge.

Step 2: Row 1: Knit across all stitches (K across).
Row 2: Purl across all stitches (P across). Repeat these two rows until the piece measures approximately 60 inches or the desired length of your throw.

Step 3: Continue in this pattern (K1, P1) until you've completed the main body of the blanket. You can also choose to alternate K rows with P rows for visual texture depending on your style preference.

Step 4: Once you've reached about 60 inches, it's time to bind off. Row 1: Knit the first two stitches, then lift the first stitch over the second and off the needle. Continue binding off in this manner until all stitches are bound off.

Step 5: Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for weaving in. Use the tapestry needle to weave in the ends for a neat finish.

Step 6: Block your blanket if necessary to relax the stitches and give it a polished look.

Enjoy your cozy knit throw blanket, perfect for adding warmth and texture to your home!
